Vintage Ottoman Makeover

I would like to show you what I've been doing last week.
I've got this old Ottoman from Antique center, It was a very solid piece in original fabric. I took it to my studio and working on a few days and now finished. I am not sure if I like the fabric but it looks okay I guess.

Fabulously French Table & Mirror Make over

Its already Friday, where all week's gone.
I've been making mess in my studio and my home all week.
I found this gorgeous French Style Table/Dresser and a Grand Mirror from second hand shop.
I brough them home at once and started sanding + painting ..
Now found the new home in my entrance.
I love how it turned out.

I love fabric. You can call me fabricholic. Yes..

I started sewing about 10 years ago when my little girl was born. I wanted to make her cute clothes, blanket, bags. you name it. That's why I started collecting my pretty fabrics.
As I now have a big space I can make all the mess I like. I moved all of my stuff to my studio.I am also starting a little sewing club. Today is my first class.

Finally, I have moved most of the junk out from my storage and the garage at my house.
Nothing much is going on at the moment. It will take many moons to clean and organize everything.
I finally counted how many chairs I have collected over the year to be upholstered.
Can you guess how many chairs I might have?
Its 50, yes, you hear me correct. Big Five Zero. 50.. grrrrrrrrrrrr
I will have so much fun reuphostering them all.

It's been a while I updated my blog.
I've been busy hunting for the studio space near my home.
I love fabric and upholstery old french chairs. but I can't stand mess around my house anymore.

Solution.
Big space to make a mess.
I finally got a space, its very very very, I mean very shabby and hole in the wall kind of place but with some characters.
I can't wait to make some serious mess in my new studio space. I have so many ideas how to decorate or make mess in this space.

Hall Stand Make Over.

It's been raining in Melbourne, not a good day to paint. However I manage to finish my Entrance Stand Makeover. I couldn't find the before picture, but Here is the after picture.

It was boring pine stand which I painted my favorite color WHITE.

Without Mirror, I think it looks good without the mirror.

This one is with Mirror. This is more functional as an entrance Stand.

I got this beautiful antique French Gilt Louis XV Settee from an antique dealer friend.
Its not easy to find Original french furnitures in Downuder. I was over the moon when I got this settee.

I am still re-arranging my living room

What was I thinking.....

We are more close to winter in Downunder. I wish to live in warm weather all year around. I have a great idea. That is I will need to buy a house in northern hemispher. That way I can chase the warm weather all year around. Where should I go? American, England or France.. that is the question..

As the weather gets colder, I desire warm interior decor. So I decided to change my living room to more warm atmospher. I started to demolish my current living room yesterday..

so here I go again...

I did landry a load after load, while washing machine is working hard. I did play with my camera, I have my semi-professional camera for last 2 years but hardly used since its heavy. I love my small digital camera in my bag. I played with my big camera today.

Dalkeith House in Mt. Martha is belong to my sister in law. It's a lovely tudor style manor sits on 10 acre park like land. We use this lovely house as a holiday home currently. French Chair Upholstery

I had a few upholstery class at my studio.

Today, one of my student finished her chair.
It came out very nice, even my hubby approved

She used French Toile Fabric as an accent piece at the front of the chair.

To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.
It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolls over to 50 this week, so here's an update:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

Wow, It's already Feb 2011.Tomorrow is Chinese new year, so we can start a new year once again.

My Chinese new year's resolution is to keep house clutter free, meaning getting rid of unnecessary things around the house. " Live with what I love " is my motto. I will be going thru the house and remove all the things what I don't need and wants. It might take some time but it will be worth it when its done.

Unfortunately, my weekend was a perfect summer day, due to so much rain in Melbourne, we have over grown garden to take care of. my DH and I worked all day to clean the garden. My lawn mower wasn't broken at all even though it was left in the rain for a while..

But its all clean and beautiful.

I already finished reading " At my french Table"

Wonderful book by Jane Webster who used to live in Melbourne but bought a grand chateau in Normady.

The book is about how she moved and what her family is doing and

a lot of great recipe for French cuisine.

I will be busy for a while with all these gorgeous books.

White dining Table + Living room update

Yesterday was Melbourne Cup day here in Downunder.

We had a crazy weather, one minute raining and the next sun shine.

I cleaned up some more and moving things around my house.

As I am chaning the decor of my house to WHITE theme..

Wanted to show off my white dining table and wardrobe became a display cabinet next to the dining table.

This display cabinet was originally the wardrobe, I took out the doors and painted white to display some of my white vases and etc.

My white living room, I added an arm chair to make it a bit cozy

and vintage suite case for the purpose of side table.

Hello lovely ladies!

Hope your day is going well.

I've been MIA since my hubby left to Oxford and France.

I have special guest from Korea staying at my house.

Very good friend of mine who are trvel writers.

They are writing a book about family travel about Melbourne at the moment.

Last weekend, I took them to Olinda about 40 mins east of Melbourne city.

We had a great time and we looked around everywhere.

We stopped at a lof of beautiful shop but this particular French Boutique was our favorite.

The owner of the shop Kathy was a really nice lady and very easy to talk to.

She is opening another shop in Hawthorn East, kind of posh area in Melbourne

New Hair Style - All Done.

Beautiful Sunny Saturday in Melbourne, I was going to have a little trip to the hair salon next week ....

but My hubby had to have his hair trim before he goes to his business trip for 2 week, He is going to England and France .. I so wish to go with him but I will have a guest coming from oversea next week staying with us so I can't accompany him. SAD, very SAD..

I changed my appointment with the hair salon and they squeezed me in for today.

New Hair Style

I used to have a very long straight hair. Washing hair and drying takes so much effort as I am getting older(sigh~) . I had my hair cut short as all older women seem to do with they hairs. Now I want do have a bit of change. I just talked to my hairdresser about it, Looks like I am getting a little perm like Lucy Liu in the picture. She is really pretty, don't you think? Some said I looked like her even though I don't agree with them. (lol). I shall take a break from my messy house and get over to Hair Salon for pamper soon.

I NEED your Help - Dreaming of white living room

I am not dreaming of white Christmas, haven't seen White Christmas almost 20 years. But what I am dreaming of is WHITE LIVING ROOM. I love French Lounge set, but at the moment, They are very eye sore in my house since I am trying to neturalize color of my house. Not to mention, my hubby thinks its too red. I found this inspirational photo. I wouldn't mind this design, minus that Rug and the coffee table.

I've been busy moving furnitures around, My little girl once had a queen bed but I got rid of it to give her more space in her little room with millions of stuff. Now she wants her queen bed back so I had to think about something creative. I moved our guestroom bed ,which I painted white a long time ago. to my little girl who wants a big bed.

I didn't want to spend too much $$ so I got this brass bed from a friend who don't want it anymore. Lucky me. I am not a big fan of brass bed but this will have to do for the time being. Still need to accessorized.

I love everything white. I score this gorgeous console table a long long time ago from local auction. I just loved the shape of it. It came home with me along with the matching mirror. I did right sanding and some spay paint.. I have my white console table..

Monday Madness!

My Life is currently mad, crazy, busy but most of all HAPPY. We are having some renovation as you can see. The wooden panel wall in the breakfast nook area has to come down. Now we have clean plaster board. It looks much cleaner and I like it. I will have to paint the wall, and re-arrange the furniture when everything is done. I can't wait to have it finished. Life is full of waiting but it's all good.

I love all things about French, I bought Vicki's first book when it came out and was wondering if I could translate into Korean(Yes, my first language is Korean, getting really bad at the moment, sigh~ even my hubby don't speak Korean noticed. LOL). Translating a good English book in Korean is in one of my to do lists. I will need to study Korean before I do that.(smile)

Yesterday, our postman delivered a parcel and I was surprise to find what was in the box.
Korean Version of "My French Life " It is smaller than original book, but look so adorable .
I am excited to read all my Korean Books especially " My French Life " in Korean.

These were what was in the box , all the way from Korea

Purple cover book is written by Korean Interior Decorator who travelled Provence for a month.

French Canape & chaise.

Every since I learn how to do reupholstery, I am in love chairs, old and new. Unfortunately I only learnt to do simply chair upholstery since my teacher moved away. I found this lovely canape and chaise on ebay france and wondering should I keep the fabric or change it if these were mine.

It's lovely as is and very cheerful..

I love to make unique homewares, and especially made with Linen. I've been busy lately with all my ideas.. Finally I did it. I made 9 different designs of French inspired Cushion Covers. I am so very happy how they turned out. I already have an order from Local gift shop who wanted to carry my beautiful cushions..(hooray~~).

I personally love the white furnitures but my bedroom has no white whatsoever, since Mr. chic is not a big fan of white anyway. But I get to add some of my favorite elements such as pink lamps , white pillows.. etc.. My bedroom is not that big .. Just for a bed and two side table.

I love linen and French words, so I made my own accent pillows using two elememts.

OMG, what a mess!!! I started sewing costumes for my little princess's school play. I haven't touched my beloved sewing machines for ages. It took me a while to adjust all the settings.(yikes), but managed to do all the serging. Today, I will have to put them all togerther to make a blouse. Wish me luck!!

Hotel Interior - JW Marriott Seoul

When Mr. Chic and I were in Seoul, we stayed in Marriott Hotel, Seoul. It's a very busy hotel, but it is very conveniently located at. a lot of restaurants, department store connect to the hotel, Express Bus Terminal where you can catch a bus to anywhere in Korea. Here are some photos of the interior, nothing special but I thought you might like to see how they decorated their room.

Korean Palace - Kyungbok Place

Whenver I visit Korea, I am like a total tourist. i love to visit old Korean places. I've been many many times while I was growing up in Seoul but I still love to visit whenever I have a change. Here are some pictures of one of beautiful Korean place called " Kyungbok Palace"

Kyungbok Palace was built in 1394, the third year of the Choson Dynasty. Kunjongjon, the largest and most impressive building in the palace, served as the throne room and audience hall. Kyonghoeru, a spacious two story pavilion, overlooks a picturesque man-made pond just northwest of the throne hall. It served as feasting hall for gatherings of royal ministers and diplomats. Hyangwonjong, a secluded pavilion nestled in the middle of a lotus pond at the northern end of the palace complex, is where the royal family could enjoy special private occasions. The Kyongbokkung Palace grounds also contain a 10-story stone pogoda from Kyongch'onsa Temple, one of the most beautiful stone structures in Korea.

I so miss Seoul..
Finally, I am awake from daydreaming, back into reality..
I left Korea about 20 years ago, everytime I go back things changed..
I never pay attention to old Korean stuff but this trip I went to National Folk Museum of Korea, It reminded me my grandmother and my mother's goodies which they no longer have.. How sad!
People like new and fancy stuff thesedays.
Not me. I love old vintage, antique.. I wonder why!!

a house like this these days. All replaced by high-rises.

Korean wedding cabinet or cabinet, My mom used have this

until a couple of years ago and she got rid of it.. silly mommy.

I would love to have this in my house.

Korean holidays. My little girl now have one silmilar..

Hello World. I am back in cold Melbourne. brrrrrrrrr, I already miss Seoul and its warm weather maybe little bit too warm. Its over 30 degree and sunny. I took a lot of photos to show off.

I am currently travelling Seoul, Korea. Visiting family and friends.. I love shopping in Korea. There are many many places to go for anything you desire. Yes, anything.. the best part of shopping in Korea is the great price. I went to very tradtional Korean fabrics and materials market. Its called " Dong Dae Moon Market" Dong dae moon means the gate in East. In order to get into heart of seoul you must enter one of 4 gates in old day.

This is Dong Dae Moon (East Gate)

it is still there but you don't have to enter to get into Seoul anymore. Its just there like a old building.

Dong dae moon market is famous for Fabrics and all kinds of materials.

this is the part of material market. I wish we have something like that

in Melbourne..

I have 1 more week before I return to cold Melbourne. (sigh~)

I am sorting my pictures from my trip finally. I went to Seoul and Singapore. Seoul is one of the busiest city in South east Asia. I was born in Seoul and moved to US and now living in Melbourne. My little girl loves to go to Seoul since she can buy a lot of cute stuff at very good price. She brought a box full of stationary and books. I didn't get to shop much since I am going back to Seoul in 6 months time to attend my cousin's wedding.

It's been so cold in Melbourne, especially after spending a month in both Seoul and Singapore. I've been dreaming of somewhere warm, perhaps South of France somewhere...???? I did some property search on the net and found this.. Isn't that pretty? You could buy this mansion for
€ 384.000.(648.721 AUD or 558.752 USD). This gorgeous mansion need a lot of work according to the site, but it will be a great place to have friends and family come over and stay and have a party or two.(smile) Just a morning dreaming!!

It's a cold spring day in Downunder. (brrrrrrrrr..)
I've been asking my DH if we can move somewhere warm all year around..(smile)
I can't do much when the weather is cold.. Now you all know why I am so quiet these days..(sigh~).

I found out that I have a relative in Paris.. that's so cool. I should pay them a visit soon.

It's been so cold and wet in Melbourne these days. I've been busy working on the project. I am opening the fabric enporium where you could purchase all kinds of beautiful fabrics, trimmings, homewares.. etc.. Its very exciting but very busy.. Still working on renovation of the shop. Happy Friday! I haven't done much after the floorboards is done. There are so much orginizing to do. My guestroom furnitures are still outside I am determine to put the guestroom together this weekend. Little Day Trip - part 1

My tooth drama is almost over thank you to friends who sent me get well wish. It was a pretty good winter day in Melbourne. My DH suggested we should go out .. so off we go... He told me he wants to check out Garden shop somewhere in Mt, Eliza( that is south of Melbourne near the ocean, for thoes who don't know where it is). My DH is interested in Gardening these days.. yep.. I have my own gardener, Lucky me.. (smile).. After 30mins driving from home. .. We arrived at a place called " Lintons Home and garden" Many of you in Australia might know which one I am talking about... It was my first time visiting there despite of many times of driving pass..

Here is the entrance of the Lintons.. I love the big pots and the trees..

we were looking for some good looking pots for our garden.. and found them.. but guess what??The price.. was..

the front small one is $1200.00

the back left medium one is $3000.00

and finally the bigest one is $4000.00 yikes..

and the girl between the pots..

The gift shop has so many french inspired goods.. I especially loved this daybed..

not to mention .. Linen covering and the cushions..

Linen apron and the bag.. cute,, don't you think??

Hello. Still remember me?
I have a bit of slow week and a lot of pain. I haven't had a chance to post anything at all. I had a bit of drama with my tooth(smile now but crying than.) and cold.. etc.. etc..
All I wanted to do now is to rest in the compy chair like this.. Isn't this one beautiful or what? Look so compy Don't you think? Come and have a seat.
Lets hope for the better next week.
